Haiti

On May 22, DHS announced a new 18-month designation of Haiti for TPS, enabling Haitian nationals and individuals without nationality who last resided in Haiti currently residing in the U.S. as of 5/21/21 to file initial applications for TPS. TPS will apply only to those individuals who are already residing in the United States as of May 21, 2021 and meet all other requirements. Those who attempt to travel to the United States after this announcement will not be eligible for TPS and may be repatriated. Haiti’s 18-month designation will go into effect on the publication date of the Federal Register notice to come shortly. The Federal Register notice will provide instructions for applying for TPS and employment authorization documentation. Individuals eligible for TPS under Haiti’s new designation must file an application for TPS with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services within the registration period that will begin upon publication of the Federal Register notice. This includes current beneficiaries under Haiti’s TPS designation, who will need to file a new application to register for TPS to ensure they do not lose TPS or experience a gap in coverage. Individuals filing for TPS may also request an Employment Authorization Document and travel authorization. 

Burma

On May 25, 2021 USCIS issued a notice designating Burma for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months, from 5/25/21 through 11/25/22. The notice allows eligible Burmese nationals (and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Burma) who have continuously resided in the U.S. since 3/11/21, and been continuously physically present in the U.S. since 5/25/21, to apply for TPS. The registration period runs from May 25, 2021. to Nov 22, 2021.

Syria

On March 18, 2021 DHS extended and redsignated Syria for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months, effective March 31, 2021, through Sept. 30, 2022. The re-designation of Syria allows an estimated 1,800 additional individuals who have been continuously residing in the United States since March 19, 2021, and continuously physically present in the United States since March 31, 2021, to file initial applications to obtain TPS. Registration Period for those Applying for TPS for the First Time runs from March 19, 2021 to September 15, 2021

Venezuela

On March 9, 2021 DHS designated Venezuela for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months, effective March 9, 2021, through Sept. 9, 2022. An initial registration application period runs from March 9, 2021, to Sept. 5, 2021. Venezuelans must have been physical present in the U.S. since March 9, 2021 to be eligible to file.
